West Central
West Central is home to one of Fort Wayne's oldest and most architecturally diverse neighborhoods, perfect for a walking tour. Pick your favorite and learn the history of these homes and many of Fort Wayne's founders who lived here.
Must Do
- Stroll these historic tree-lined streets and discover beautiful gardens, hidden shops, and stately homes.
- New to this area is the Electric Works campus, a revitalized GE Campus that teems with new life. Grab lunch at the Union Street Market and stroll these historic buildings.
- Walk the Broadway Corridor which connects to the West Central Neighborhood to Electric Works to discover great retail - from art galleries to toy shops!
Restaurants
While in the West Central Neighborhood you will want to be sure to grab an ice cream cone from Brooklyn Pints Microcreamery, or a coffee and steamed bagel from Davey's Bagels. And the perfect food stop for a group with different tastes will always be Union Street Market - where the varied vendors allow for countless options!
Parks
Swinney Park has plenty of natural open space to find a quiet spot to visit nature in the midst of a bustling city.
Colonel Swinney's beautiful home still sits on the property and was originally a twenty-three room Federal style structure that was converted to a Victorian Italianate by his three daughters. You can stroll the grounds and gardens, and enjoy tennis courts, a playground, disc golf and other park amenities.
Shop
Many of Fort Wayne's best small boutiques can be found in the West Central District.
Nightlife
Check out the Brass Rail, a Fort Wayne favorite for live local music. Catch dinner and a show at Arena Dinner Theatre.
