Event Information
Summary:
The National Fishing Lure Collectors Club (NFLCC) is a non-profit, educational, international organization founded in 1976. The primary objectives of the NFLCC are to foster an awareness of fishing tackle collecting as a hobby and to assist members in the location, identification, and trading of vintage fishing-related equipment.
Meeting Size:
1,000 attendees over 3 days.
Host Facility:
Grand Wayne Convention Center
Why Fort Wayne:
Since 1976, the NFLCC has hosted several fun and informational conventions at locations all across the United States, showcasing a huge display of fishing memorabilia to its enthusiastic members. In 2010, the organization turned its attention to a Midwest location for its 2013 event - one that offered traveling convenience, affordable venues and a city that would embrace its presence. Local NFLCC representatives and Visit Fort Wayne quickly went to work in putting together a unique and well-organized strategy to lure the national organization to town. Following an impressive presentation and venue site visit, Fort Wayne was awarded the 2013 convention, with small town community feel, convenience and cleanliness of downtown, and affordability as the main deciding factors. Ironically, the host city in 2012 cancelled, and NFLCC asked if Fort Wayne could host that year, too. With the help of the Grand Wayne Convention Center, Visit Fort Wayne and many local NFLCC members, our city stepped up to the plate and held a fantastic convention in 2012. The group will return to Fort Wayne in 2013.

What NFLCC Organizers Said About Fort Wayne:
"I am pleased to report that Fort Wayne met more than our criteria. The staff at both downtown hotels and convention center leaned over backwards to make our event a success and the city of Fort Wayne is a great city with interesting things to do, safe streets, and great places to eat. These are very important aspects for a large out of town group. The Visit Fort Wayne folks were a pleasure to work with, too." - Gibby Gibson, National Site Selection of the National Fishing Lures Collectors Club
