Riverfront Explorer Weekend

Friday

Night: Set the tone for your getaway with a peaceful early evening hike through Lindenwood Nature Preserve. Walk the one-mile loop on the Trail of Reflection, featuring a wide reflection pond nestled by thick trees and seasonal foliage.

Saturday

Morning: Stop by Kanela Blended Drinks, Coffee, and Bites for a breakfast smoothie and protein-loaded bagel to fuel your day’s adventure. Just one block north, you’ll find Promenade Park on the Riverfront, home to Fort Wayne Outfitters. Rent a kayak, paddleboard, canoe, or bike to head down the river or up a winding trail.

Noon: By land or water, guests are welcome to paddle or pedal right up to The Deck at Hall’s Gas House. Find fresh and delicious lunch options under the shaded gazebo before hitting the trail to return to Promenade Park.

Night: Enjoy a rest from the day’s activities as you float down the St. Marys River on a Sweet Breeze canal boat tour. Relax in the soothing breeze of the river and learn about Fort Wayne’s unique history along the riverfront.

Sunday

Morning: Drive to Eagle Marsh, located just 15 minutes from downtown Fort Wayne. Find marked trails covering a kaleidoscope of scenery, and discover diverse ecosystems including a marsh, sedge meadow, prairie, and forested wetlands. Be sure to pick up a map at the trailhead – you don’t want to miss the many points of interest in this beautiful area.

Insider Tip: If you liked exploring the downtown riverfront, be sure to check out Fort Wayne Outfitters’ second location – Steady Eddy’s Station – for casual dining and kayaking on the Cedarville Reservoir in nearby Leo.
