Happy 250th Birthday America! Fort Wayne, Indiana is celebrating our nation's Semiquincentennial with community events leading up to the 4th of July and beyond to commemorate this historic milestone. Read on to be a part of the festivities.

Learn on PBS

November 16 - 21, watch the American Revolution Documentary by Ken Burns, from 8-10pm nightly on PBS.

Genealogy Center at the Allen County Public Library

November 18 at 2:30pm choose from two educational opportunities at ACPL's Main Branch.

  • Allen Co. Pathways to Belonging: Citizenship, Rights, and Records through History
  • Virtual Meeting by Elizabeth Hodges, Allen County Public Library Genealogy Department.

Lindenwood Cemetery Patriot Walk

Join other community members on March 21 at 1:00pm for a Patriot Walk at the beautiful and historic Lindenwood Cemetery. More info coming soon.

Light Up United

Beginning in April/May, light up your homes, buildings, and other structures in red, white, and blue lights and decorations. Decorations will stay in place through July 4th.

Great American Cleanup Day

Make a difference at the annual Great American Cleanup Day, the nation's largest community improvement program. Fort Wayne has been proudly participating in this nationwide effort for over 30 years. The event happens in spring every year, but the specific date for 2026 has yet to be announced.

Downtown Fort Wayne Fireworks Show

America's 250th Semiquincentennial

It's here! On July 4th, 2026 celebrate the big day at The Old Fort hosting Story Circles from 12pm - 6pm. Then finish the day with the spectacular, annual fireworks display in downtown Fort Wayne.

America’s Family Potluck

The fun is not over yet! On July 5, come to America’s Family Potluck. Bring family and friends together at Metea County Park to celebrate with food and community.

Public Reading of the Declaration of Independence

On July 8, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was read publicly for the first time. 250 years later, we can gather in the same moment to read one of our nation's most influential documents together along with other communities across America and its territories at 6pm EST. Location coming soon.
