Promenade Park

Promenade Park is one of Fort Wayne's most disability-inclusive parks allowing everyone to experience our city's beloved three rivers. This 4-acre multipurpose river parkway features a pavilion, playground, sculptures, and many water activities. This park has a tactile paver ribbon that adds texture to the path to let anyone who is blind or has low vision know they are still on the trail and where to go next. In addition, 3D printed maps of the park are available to guide you through everything it has to offer!

Fort Wayne Museum of Art Glass Exhibits

Museum of Art

The Fort Wayne Museum of Art offers diverse exhibitions of contemporary and historical art as well as an extensive glass art gallery. The driveway at the main entrance is adjacent to a zero threshold, level-grade brick patio and the main entrance features two sets of automatic doors. Gallery spaces are on the main level and feature zero-threshold passages as well as automatic doors to each gallery.

The museum also offers EnVision Tours that are for adults with vision impairments. Individuals who are blind or have visual impairments can explore museum exhibitions with trained guides who will help you enter the visual art world using techniques that do not rely on visual cues or descriptors.

Downtown Murals

Public art is a staple of the culture of Fort Wayne and Art This Way has ensured that it’s for everyone. A few of the murals have a plaque that includes a QR code. If you scan that QR code it will take you to a video of the artist describing their work. This is a great way for anyone with visual impairment to still get in on the experience! 11 of the murals also have detailed 3-D models. You can find a map to all of the downtown murals here.
