Seasonal eateries are like hidden gems – finding one is always a treat. Fort Wayne is home to a number of great seasonal spots, from chilled treats to hot eats. Check them out!

Zestos

Zestos

Recognizable by their iconic blue and white awnings, Zestos is a local specialty that has been family-owned since the 1960s. Their specialty is ice cream and frozen yogurt – think dipped cones, sundaes, sodas, shakes, and malts. They specialize in soft-serve, and customers start lining up in March, when the windows first open up for the season.

There are four different Zestos in Fort Wayne that are open from March through October. Check out their locations to see where you can find their tasty products!

The Stand

Opened in 2004, The Stand is famous for coney dogs and ice cream. They offer veggie dogs (non-meat), corndogs, and hot dogs in such flavors as Korean BBQ, Hawaiian (with pineapple), mac attack, Chicago dog, Waynedale Dog (with coleslaw), and many more.

Unique to their menu are hot soups and vegan options – including vegan ice cream, shakes, sundaes, and wipeouts. You can try out a Boston Cooler (a shake made with ice cream and ginger ale), a slush float (slushie mixed with ice cream), or a yogurt shake, too.

The Stand usually opens in March and closes in the fall, when it’s getting colder. Check out their Facebook page for announcements as spring and autumn approach!

As with many donut shops, tiny little donuts has morning and early afternoon hours, Tuesday through Sunday. Check out their website to track down some fresh donuts here!

Summer Sno on Crescent

As you drive by on Crescent, look for a small white building with a blue roof. That’s the neighborhood place to grab a snow cone or a quick bite of something more substantial, like a hot dog or nachos.

Summer Sno has been a staple of the neighborhood for years, and is a tradition for families now bringing their grandkids to the place. Opening in April and closing in the autumn, check out their facebook page for opening and closing dates.

Sno Balls on Maplecrest

This little snow cone shop has been a staple of the northeast side of town for years. Look for a small white building near Extra Space Storage and Planet Fitness. They also offer after-dark hours when families are leaving Little League games, or are just out for a family walk on the nearby sidewalks.

Sno Balls opened on May 1 this year, and will be open through September from 12 p.m. – 10 p.m. every day.
