As an Indiana native who happens to love all things fall, I feel there is no better place to visit than an orchard, where you can fully experience the sights and smells of fall in Indiana.

Cook's Orchard
There’s something special about picking your own fruit and purchasing other produce grown locally. Whether you're enjoying the experience as a fun activity or simply looking to buy fresh ingredients to enjoy or use in homemade treats, visiting locally owned orchards is a great way to support small businesses and local farmers.
One of the best orchards in the area is located on the north side of Fort Wayne. Cook's Orchard offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy nature and a truly unique experience. In September, visitors can take advantage of the U-Pick option and choose from a wide variety of apples. The gift shop also features an assortment of jams, jellies, local honey, and other seasonal produce, including fresh peaches and apples grown right on the farm. Purchases are made on the honor system, with a sign indicating that shoppers should pay with cash or check by dropping their payment into a mailbox located inside the store.
If you're planning to visit or tour the orchard, it's best to call Cook's in advance to schedule your visit. While the location is a bit off the beaten path, the rows of apple trees are a clear sign that you're approaching the orchard and farm. The gift shop is conveniently located just off the road, and you may even be greeted by the friendly family dogs who help give Cook's its warm, welcoming charm. They are open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting on Labor Day.
