Lindenwood Nature Preserve
Lindenwood Nature Preserve, is a wonderful place to hike while enjoying nature's beauty. The preserve features four hiking trails in varying lengths, so there's something for everyone. One trail is constructed of crushed gravel and boardwalks, making it suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. On this trail you can enjoy hiking, wildlife views, and picnicking in nature. No pets or bikes are allowed on these trails.

Eagle Marsh
Located on the southwest edge of Fort Wayne, Eagle Marsh features many fall grasses and wildflowers growing along its trails. An added bonus are the many wildlife species that live here. You may spot deer, herons, egrets, and various songbirds as you make your way along the trails. With 831 acres, 14 miles of trails, and more than 250 kinds of birds, you will be immersed into a relaxing and lively nature walk.
During fall, the 3-mile Continental Divide Trail (find it near the Engle Road parking lot close to West Jefferson) should provide beautiful vistas of fall color. Be aware that this is a marsh/wetland, so if it's been rainy, you may prefer to hike here in your boots.
While Eagle Marsh is full of grasses and other shorter plants, while you're hiking here you may see the colorful foliage of Fox Island woods, located just next to the marsh.
Franke Park Trails
Fall is a great time to visit Franke Park, whether you want to hike or want some beautiful backdrop and photo spots.
With over 300 acres of land, it's easy to spend a fall afternoon in the outdoors here. Bring the cooler and take advantage of the pavilions for a refresh after a hike exploring. Also, stop by the playgrounds which are located right next to the pavilions. With the lakes, open paths, and areas for native animals, Franke Park is a great fall afternoon destination.
Franke Park is also full of excellent trails. Check out this map to see them all, along with the designation of the trails' difficulty levels. While many Fort Wayne trails are fairly easy due to our flat topography, Franke Park has a few harder trails that fitness buffs can try as a challenge.
Fort Wayne Rivergreenway Trail
Hiking in the city? Yes, if it's Fort Wayne! Our city has a wonderful series of trails that lets you enjoy the abundant fall foliage this autumn. Check out the Rivergreenway map to find a place to join a trail in many parts of town. The Rivergreenway Trail is 26 miles long and runs along our three rivers. It is the perfect trail for bicycling, hiking, jogging, or just walking while taking in what nature has to offer.
