A few weeks ago, at a ceremony in Indianapolis, Dan O’Connell, President and CEO of Visit Fort Wayne, was honored with the Indiana Tourism Association’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award.

The Distinguished Service Award celebrates one individual annually who has assisted in developing, promoting and protecting Indiana's tourism industry – using their position and influence to ensure the success of Indiana tourism assets.

Dan was chosen for this honor in his 30th year of service at Visit Fort Wayne. His nomination included a letter from Mayor Tom Henry who complimented Dan on his role in crafting Fort Wayne’s story and attracting visitors to experience Fort Wayne’s momentum firsthand. Fort Wayne has become a regional destination in large part to Dan’s role in growing our tourism product and increasing demand for more hotels.

Almost 250 tourism leaders from around the state came to the Indiana Tourism Conference for networking and educational sessions over the three-days. For more information, visit www.IndianaTourismAssociation.com.
