FORT WAYNE, IN (July 1, 2026) -- In celebration of Disability Pride Month, Visit Fort Wayne is launching a month-long campaign to highlight and share the story of Fort Wayne and Allen County’s accessibility mindset.

To Fort Wayne/Allen County, accessibility is not just an aspiration, or an action item to be checked off the list. It is a frame of thinking, a mindset that we live out throughout the community when building, creating, and providing service to customers, friends, neighbors, and visitors.

As a part of the campaign, Visit Fort Wayne premiers the Fort Wayne Accessibility Mindset mini-documentary that provides a look at how accessibility became a community focus, and how this focus was celebrated in October 2025 with the World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Cup. During this event we hosted teams from around the world, and celebrated renovations at the Arts United Center and Fort Wayne International Airport.

Building on the strong foundation established through the community’s 10-year Tourism Master Plan, and the recently launched 5-Year Accessible Destination Action Plan, Visit Fort Wayne is committed to positioning Fort Wayne and Allen County as national leaders in accessibility and Universal Design.

Community partners and organizations are invited to participate in sharing our accessibility story, and can learn more at VisitFortWayne.com/AccessibleAction
