A Look at Powers Hamburgers in Fort Wayne
It all has to do with technique and quality. “The burgers are good because we use ground chuck and grill the onions right on them,” he said. “Customers tell us they are almost addictive.”
The diner is situated in downtown Fort Wayne. Besides offering a cozy atmosphere and convenient location with lots of parking, Powers gives customers the chance to sit on barstools while chowing down some of the smallest burgers they’ll ever meet. Hall said the average customer orders 3-4 hamburgers.
Powers Hamburgers has been open in Fort Wayne since 1940, making it one of the longest-running restaurants in Fort Wayne. It was operated by the Powers family until 1999 when Hall purchased it and began running the business.
After a fire in 2023, the business remodeled and reopened in 2024. It's now owned by a local hospitality company. They also participated in Savor Fort Wayne.
Friday and Saturday are the busiest days of the week as families come in to eat together. As might be expected, prices have risen since the Powers family first offered burgers for five cents in the 1940s.
Hours of operation: Monday-Wednesday 10am-10pm. Thursday-Saturday 10am-12am. Closed Sundays.
Location: 1402 S Harrison St 260.422.6620
