Visit Fort Wayne and the Memorial Coliseum are pleased to announce the booking of the 2012 Wing Ding – the annual convention of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA). The event will be held at the Memorial Coliseum July 4-7, 2012.
This event was previously held in Fort Wayne in 2002 and 2005 - 2012 will mark the third time this event has been hosted in our community. GWRRA chose Fort Wayne due to our continuing relationship with the meeting planners, and our outstanding venues, amenities and community support that they experienced in the past.
The event is titled as “America’s biggest touring rally with indoor trade show for Gold Wing motorcycle enthusiasts” and will host between 8,000 and 10,000 attendees, which is the largest single event our community hosts. The economic impact is estimated at between $4 and $5 million in spending.
The announcement was made this morning at the 2011 Wing Ding, which is being held in Knoxville, TN. The booking was secured by Visit Fort Wayne, the Memorial Coliseum, the City of Fort Wayne and Allen County.
The Gold Wing selection committee adds, “We are all very excited to return to Fort Wayne. The city has a charm and such a warm welcoming community that our members greatly enjoy. We frequently suggest that other cities look at Fort Wayne as an example of how to put on a great Wing Ding.”
