Adaptive Sports Compete in Fort Wayne
In Fort Wayne, we believe everyone deserves a chance to be a winner on-and-off the playing field.
The City of Fort Wayne, Visit Fort Wayne and Turnstone have teamed up to attract and host competitive sports tournaments and participants in our city. This collaboration has led to several national and regional events to call Fort Wayne home, including the USABA National Goalball Team living and training in Fort Wayne.
Turnstone Center for Children and Adults with Disabilities has been providing adaptive sports and recreation for 20 years. As the fourth largest Paralympic Sport Club in the United States, Turnstone offers competitive and recreational opportunities in wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis, power soccer, indoor rowing, adaptive golf, sled hockey, boccia and more.
Built in 2015, the Plassman Athletics Center opened to serve as competitive and large events and tournaments. The new fieldhouse offers four basketball courts, 230-meter track, 9,100 sq. ft. warm water pool, locker rooms, weight room, and locker rooms designed for easy use by people with disabilities.
Turnstone has hosted premier national and regional competitions and tournaments, including the 2016 USABA National Goalball Championships, Power Soccer National Championships, and Midwest Wheelchair Championships. Turnstone was recently designated a training site for the US Paralympics.
