How To: Be A Tourist in Your Own Hometown
Be A Tourist Questions and Answers
When is the Be A Tourist event? How long does it run?
Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown runs Sunday, September 11, 2022, from Noon to 5pm. ⚫ NOTE: A few attractions have slightly different hours. Be sure to check your passport or VisitFortWayne.com/BeATourist to see individual attraction times.
Does everyone in my family need an individual passport?
No, one passport is good for the entire family! You can pick up a passport from one of our distribution points, or print your own at home.
Will the Lincoln Tower Observation Deck be open this year?
Unfortunately, the Lincoln Tower Observation Deck is no longer open to the public during Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown. The high volume of traffic causes too much wear and tear on the historic building. Thank you for understanding!
What locations are wheelchair accessible?
All participating attractions are ADA accessible! Please note that the grounds inside the walls at The Old Fort consist of gravel, and may be uneven in areas. However, the concrete sidewalks around the exterior are even and fully accessible.
How do I get a passport?
Starting August 18 , you can pick up your FREE passport booklets at any Fort Wayne Kroger or Old National Bank location. They are also available at the Visitors Center at 927 S. Harrison St. You can also print your own. See below.
Can I download my own passport?
Yes. Download and print a 2-page version of the passport (available now!) here .
Do you have to make an appointment to visit attractions during the event?
Most participating attractions do not require appointments or timed tickets. Please Note: You must have a free, timed ticket to visit Science Central during the event. These limited tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Visit ScienceCentral.org to reserve your tickets.
Where can I find parking?
From lots and garages to free street parking, there are lots of options available during Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown. For downtown parking, look for the P on the Be a Tourist Map — also available on the inside back cover of your passport booklet.
