"We've got to boast! We've got the most Christmas news in The Christmas Post!" So, shout the newsies as the curtain goes up on The Christmas Post, a dramatic musical to be presented Friday & Saturday, Dec. 6 & 7 at 7:30 p.m. at First Assembly of God.

This full-length musical tells the story of one very special day in the life of fictional Homesboro, Indiana, Christmas Eve 1947. Alice Garfield (Rebecca Smith), a war widow, has taken a temporary job at Herzog's Department Store to earn the commission to buy her two children their "special gifts." Alice's goal is obstructed by Mr. Herzog, Jr. (Korey Mervenne), the store owner who imagines himself on board a Navy ship; and Maxwell Q. Seldon (Alex Martinez), the seemingly heartless sales manager. She is helped by Herzog's plucky assistant, Dixie Plunkett (Dyllin Bolen), and Hattie McGee (Julie Glant), a kindly older woman who runs a newsstand. The action takes place nonstop from the start of the day to its end, and includes lively company scenes as the public mobs the store in "The Christmas Rush," dances with Dixie and Alice in "Keep the Faith," and runs from the cops during an unauthorized "midnight madness" sale in "The Chase."
