Fans Of R&B
The Chi-Lites, originally called the Hi-Lites, were formed in Chicago in 1959 and consisted of Marshall Thompson, Creadel “Red” Jones, Eugene Record, Robert Lester and Clarence Johnson. In 1964, the band changed their name to Marshall & the Chi-Lites - the ‘C’ being added to reflect the name of their hometown - and later truncated their name to just the Chi-Lites. Despite many line-up changes throughout the decades, the Chi-Lites have attained many top ten hits on the R&B and pop charts, including “Give It Away,” “Have You Seen Her,” “Oh Girl,” “Homely Girl,” “There Will Never Be Any Peace,” and “Toby.” In 2000, the Chi-Lites were inducted into the Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame. Their current lineup includes Marshall Thompson (founder and leader), Tara Thompson, Robert “Squirrel” Lester and Frank Reed.
