Research has confirmed the importance of the board chair in setting the tone for the work of the board and the working relationship with the CEO.<br /><br />Two sessions, led by different governance experts, will explore and discuss the kinds of working relationships that the board chair will want to establish with both the CEO and also with the broader board. We encourage the board chair to attend both sessions and bring their CEO along to the first session and their vice-chair or another executive committee member to the second session.<br /><br />Session 1 &#8211; Board Chair/CEO Partnership &#8211; April 25, 2019 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm<br />Bryan Orander, President of Charitable Advisors and a BoardSource®-certified Governance Trainer, will focus attention on the board chair working with the CEO/staff and the attitudes, communications, and operational role of this critical relationship.<br /><br />Session 2 &#8211; Board Chair/Vice-Chair &#8211; May 14, 2019 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm <br />Ruth Purcell Jones, an independent nonprofit consultant with 25 years of building the capacity of organizations, individuals, boards, and teams will discuss governance, strategic planning, leadership, team building, and coaching.<br /><br />Each lunchtime session will include insights from the board leaders of local organizations who will share their experiences for discussion and reflection. Seating is limited to 36 attendees and will be held at the Community Foundation, 555 East Wayne St., Fort Wayne, IN 46802.
