On Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. each day, West Central Coffee will be hosting two IDENTICAL gatherings to talk about race. In light of George Floyd’s death back on Memorial Day and, most recently, the shooting of Jacob Blake by police on August 23rd, the need to talk—and listen—is perhaps greater than ever.

A team of individuals has been busy planning this event, which we hope will be attended by any and all in our community who want to learn and grow in this area.

Here is our team's Guiding Purpose:

Our time together will raise awareness of racial and social equities and inequities through sharing our stories that in turn will generate positive change in our lives.

Mr. Thomas Smith, former principal of South Side and Wayne High Schools and current teacher at our own Smith Academy, will serve as our emcee and primary presenter.

In-person participants will receive a free beverage and pastry.

Mask wearing and physical distancing will be in place.

We will also offer remote participation via Zoom.
