2018-09-30 2018-10-28 Artist Rebecca Stockert Exhibits at Old Crown Coffee Roasters <p>Artist Rebecca Stockert will exhibit watercolor illustrations at Old Crown Coffee Roasters, 3417 N Anthony Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46805, September 30 - October 28, 2018. Illustrations will include new work created this year during her residency at Gene Stratton-Porter historic site in Rome City, IN. Work will include a portrait of Stratton-Porter and a narrative illustration inspired by Stratton-Porter’s poem, “Limberlost Invitation.” Other work included in the exhibit will be illustrations from Stockert’s contributions to local magazine and blog, Pique: Fort Wayne Art &amp; Culture. <br /><br />About the artist: Rebecca Stockert is an artist living and working in Fort Wayne, IN. Her work explores contemporary social issues through narrative illustration; issues that interest her include feminism, social justice, sustainability, and environmentalism. She often use nature imagery as a springboard for exploring these ideas, especially the natural flora and fauna of the Midwest. As well, she enjoys using imagery from popular culture for reference and for the sake of humor. Stockert has a Bachelor’s of Arts and Masters of Arts from the University of Saint Francis School of Creative Arts, Fort Wayne, IN. She is a freelance artist and teaching artist with numerous clients. She is an adjunct instructor at Ivy Tech Community College, teaching Survey of Art and Culture I, Survey of Art and Culture II, and Art Appreciation.
