2018-01-27 6:00 PM 2018-01-27 9:00 PM “Beauty from Brokenness” by Angela S Hudson- Presented by PranaYoga <p>“Beauty from Brokenness” features the artwork of local artist Angela S. Hudson. The show features a series of oil paintings, several mixed media pieces, and drawings as well. The images were created to call attention to the high rate of sexual assault on the women in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the need for assistance on their journey to healing. The pieces depict real women and their stories as captured in photo by Mike Gerber on a recent mission trip to the DRC with representatives of Fellowship Missionary Church. Stories, shared anonymously, offer insight into the pain behind each beautiful face. Money from the sale of these pieces will be donated to World Relief through Fellowship Missionary Church’s partnership to help fund sexual assault and trauma healing programs for these and many others in the DRC.<br /> <br />Artist Statement:<br />Angela S. Hudson was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana and received a bachelor of arts degree from Saint Francis College in commercial and fine art (with a minor in English) and a master of arts degree in fine art from the University of Saint Francis.<br />She has worked in the design field for nearly 20 years and now owns her own marketing and graphic design company, Studio A Design. She loves doing fine art when her hectic schedule allows. Angela has a love for oil painting but has recently been experimenting with other mixed media forms of art as well, including paper, resin, and metal. She has had a passion for creating for a cause - focusing on the women in the Democratic Republic of Congo - for the past five years.<br /><br />Angela resides in Fort Wayne with her husband, Tony, and two children, Sam and Stella.<br /><br /> <br />$5 recommended donation in support of The Gallery at PranaYoga</p> 1301 Lafayette St Fort Wayne, IN America/Indiana/Winamac
