Artlink’s Bicentennial Exhibit: Focusing on Fort Wayne

One of the many events Fort Wayne has to offer during Indiana’s bicentennial year celebration is the Bicentennial Exhibit at Artlink Contemporary Gallery. This family-friendly exhibit displays 200 pieces of art including sculptures, paintings, and photographs that represent Indiana. While many of the artists reside in Fort Wayne and surrounding cities such as Columbia City, New Haven, and Leo, there is also artwork from cities such as Goshen, Muncie, and Indianapolis. Outside of Indiana, some of the artwork displayed comes from artists who live in Chicago, Grand Rapids, and San Francisco.

Art Galleries in Fort Wayne

If you were to describe Fort Wayne to an outsider, the description ‘artist's town' wouldn't immediately come to mind. We've been called the city of churches and the city of trees, but the city of art galleries? That hasn't happened - not yet anyway. But when you start counting them up, the Fort Wayne Museum of ArtArtlinkOrchard Gallery, the galleries at The University of St. FrancisJennifer Ford Art, and scores more, you start to wonder if we should frame ourselves with the moniker ‘The City of Galleries'. An entire book could be devoted to all the choices offered around town, but I had to draw the line somewhere, so here are a few of my favorites.

I love art. Creating it, studying it, even eating it. Here in Fort Wayne, we have an engaging and growing art hub downtown, consisting of the Museum of Art, Artlink, and the Arts United building, which hosts a variety of arts.

Now, on the north side of Fort Wayne, we can add another name to the city's art venues - the Jennifer Ford Art Gallery.
