Williams Woodland Park, Fort Wayne's first planned neighborhood, is known for its diversity, architecture and history. This national historic district encompasses 287 buildings, mostly residential homes, approximately one mile south of downtown. The area was developed from about 1875 to 1940 and includes notable examples of Colonial Revival, Prairie School, and Queen Anne style residential architecture. Many of these homes are inviting structures, and you and your friends and family have an opportunity to tour them.
See seven decked out homes during the Annual Holiday Tour of Williams Woodland Park. Additionally, you and your friends/family can see some of the coolest apartments in town at Fairfield Manor. The historic apartment building was designed by noted Fort Wayne architect Charles R. Weatherhogg and built in 1927. The seven-story plus basement is a rectangular, Colonial Revival style brick building with a slight "bar-bell" form, and it has American Craftsman and interior Art Deco design elements.
The event will take place on Saturday, December 5 from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m., and December 6 from 1 pm. - 5 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased in advance online at the William's Woodland Park website or on the day of the tour at Simpson United Method Church/Getsemani, 2501 S. Harrison Street.
The advance ticket price is $10.00 for individuals and $36.00 for groups of four. The day of tour tickets are $12.00 per individual and $48.00 for groups of four. Children age 10 and under are free admission.
