The Allen County Public Library and its branches of libraries have many events available to kids age 6-11 on Thursdays in July: Science Central-- Staff from one of Fort Wayne’s best educational children venues will offer interactive science fun with “Munching Earth Model” and “Cookie Mining”. Bad Kitty—Bad Kitty is so bad (and funny), someone created a comic strip about her! Bad Kitty’s creator and illustrator, Nick Bruel, will be at the library to share his knowledge of art and storytelling. Good Kitties – Good kitties will love the catnip toys kids can make at the library. These toys will be dropped off at the local animal shelter. Stuffed Animal Sleepover—If you want to offer a treat to your (stuffed) kitty or other animal, bring it to the library for a party! We'll play games and have stories before we put our stuffed friends to bed for the night. Don't worry—you can pick it up in the morning to find out what happens when the library lights go out! Camp Out @ Your Library –This has all of the advantages of camping outside with no ants! Tell stories and make S’mores all within the comfort of air conditioning! Open Art—How great is this – you can create a fabulous piece of art at no cost and maybe have it put on display! Library staff will provide materials for you to create whatever you want (keep it appropriate). Some talented individuals may have their work displayed in the Jeffrey R. Krull Gallery in August. Bingo for Books—I admit, this would be my must-do event for the summer. I love holding new books and owning them is even better. Star Wars @ the Library-- Some serious Star Wars fans would flip out at this opportunity to meet Darth Vader. Darth Maul will also be on hand. Will it be a fight to the death? During the program, you can hold a light saber and learn some light saber fighting tips. For more information, check them out online!
