There’s a million exciting things to do and see at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, but not every visit can be a day-long affair.

That’s not a problem- here are the best ways to spend your time at the zoo, whether you only have 2 hours to stay or are planning a full day of fun!

Fort Wayne Children's Zoo - Giraffe Encounter in Fort Wayne, Indiana

Tour the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo

If you only have a few hours:

Check out the stunning new Monkey Island right when you step through the gates. Then take a left and travel to the African Journey, where you can learn about unique animals like the sitatunga, take a ride on the sky safari, listen to Bahati the lion roar, and even feed a giraffe!

On your way out, stop by Sea Lion Beach to catch one of the sea lion shows, offered daily. Or, take advantage of our late night hours and visit the zoo after 5! Animals are more active, the crowds have subsided, and you can enjoy a family-friendly summer evening with Storytime, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 6 pm.

If you have half a day:

Enjoy the African Journey, then swing on over to the Indonesian Rainforest. Become a scientist for the day in Doctor Diversity, take a walk through the incredible Rainforest Dome, and meet our baby orangutan, Asmara! Then stop for a delicious lunch at the Treetops Café, or take a ride on the Endangered Animals Carousel.

You’ll see tigers, gibbons and more as you make your way down the boardwalk. Our brand new otter exhibit is not to be missed- you can get up close and personal with them as they dive and swim with the new underwater viewing area.

Then finish your day with a visit to the Indiana Family Farm to brush a goat and visit with the farm’s newest residents- two Flemish giant rabbits!

For a full day of fun:

After you’ve explored the African Journey and the Indonesian Rainforest, head to the Australian Adventure for even more fun! There you can touch a stingray, come face to face with our kangaroo troop, and watch our Tasmanian Devil brothers make some mischief.

Beat the heat by hanging out in the aquarium to see the new giant groupers, grabbing an icy treat at Matilda’s, relaxing at Outback Springs, or by making a splash on the log ride! You can even stick around for dinner and grab a burger at Ray’s before ending the day with Storytime.

No matter how much time you have, there is always time to experience the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo!
