I started playing soccer about the time I learned to walk, and it played a huge role in my childhood. ShindigZ National Soccer Festival gives me a chance to relive some of those memories. But even if you aren't a lifelong soccer player, you can enjoy 3 fun-filled days at IPFW's Hefner Soccer Complex, August 16-18. From kid's activities to food vendors to an adult beer tent, there's something for everyone. But if soccer is your thing, you must attend the festival, which will feature over 30 top college teams, along with regional high school teams, and a special appearance by Chivas, Mexico's top professional soccer team. Watch them face off against Notre Dame on August 16 at 7 p.m. and against Indiana University on August 18 at 7 p.m., which will be a nationally televised game. Chivas has been described as the Yankees of international soccer and having them here in Fort Wayne is a big deal. Three-day passes are available for $20 online at IPFW's box office, all Walgreen's and Connelly's Do It Best Locations, and George's International. For a full list of participating schools and schedules, visit the event website. You can even follow results and event information on Twitter and Facebook.
