holiblog left hand 2 Come celebrate International Lefthanders Day on August 13 with Fort Wayne’s Leftfest! At 4005 South Wayne Ave. there will be fun and festivities all day from 1:00 – 7: 00 p.m. The event is meant to celebrate southpaws and raise awareness of the challenges they face adapting to a world designed for right-handed people. This is the second annual Leftfest. The event is for all people, regardless of dominant hand! It’s also a great event for parents of southpaws to learn different ways to accommodate their lefthanders, for instance, they will learn how to teach lefthanders to tie their shoes. The festivities include food prepared by Matt and Dan, the two southpaw chefs at the Friendly Fox. Food trucks will be just down the block at Redeemer Lutheran Church from 3:00 – 8:00 pm as well to help satiate hunger southpaws and their friends. There will also be a 13% off sale and left-hand cookies at Born Again Quilts. Check out glass-blower Eran Park and Barber Joe’s featuring Tim, a southpaw, while you are on the block. Hubie-3 The event will kick off with the reading of the Bill of Lefts. During the day there will be a trivia contest, a talent show, a corn hole tournament, and a presentation. The day will conclude with a performance by Hubie Ashcraft, during which he will honor leftys by signing songs composed or played by southpaws. Don’t worry about parking, either! First Missionary Church has agreed to open their lots to those attending the festival! This event is sure to be a great time! Come out and help Fort Wayne celebrate everything lefty!
