Christmas ceremonies are a great way for the whole family to see pretty lights and soak up the season. The Summit City (Fort Wayne's nickname) becomes a festive town during the months of November and December. The season's activities begin on November 14, 2015, with the Jefferson Pointe Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. This open-air living center, on the city's southwest side of town, will kick off the holidays with a tree lighting in center court. The event will begin at 5:00 p.m. The lights will appear at 7 p.m. Santa will be available to visit children and local musicians will provide entertainment everyone. The pretty lights will continue from November 15, 2015, to December 25, 2015, Fort Wayne's Tallest Tree will be synchronized to Christmas music from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. From, December 26, 2015, to January 11, 2016, the tree will be set to synchronized upbeat music to celebrate the New Year.
Can't make to the lighting on November 14? Or desire to fit as many as you can in the Holiday season? “Christmas on Broadway” will kick off the Holiday season on the Broadway corridor. The 11th annual event will feature a tree lighting and fireworks display that will be a delight for both the young and old.
The festivities will begin at 5:45 p.m. with the tree lighting to occur shortly after 6:00 p.m. Fireworks will explode in the sky, soon afterwards. The crowd can drink Prairie Farm's eggnog and hot chocolate, eat Ellison Bakery cookies while listening to local musicians. Children will love a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, pet live reindeer, take a ride on Polar Express.
Parents and grandparents can capture a multitude of memories this holiday season. The flick of a light switch will leave thousands of children, and even adults, with a smile on their face. Pack up the sleigh, load up the family and head to the nearest lighting ceremony.
