PrintSummer is heating up for the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. The Phil will perform four unique summer concerts at the Foellinger Theatre in Fort Wayne, as well as several others in surrounding counties.

All performances are free thanks to the support of a generous donor, but you do need a general admission ticket to attend. The Phil’s summer series started with Patriotic Pops, a performance with music that celebrates our country. They played 1812 Overture, a tribute to veterans, and other classic American songs. If you missed this performance, be sure to catch it in surrounding counties during the next few week. A full list is provided at the end of this blog post.

On July 6 at the Foellinger Theatre, hear I Love a Piano, a concert featuring some of the best songs ever written for piano. Pianist Rich Ridenour and vocalist Kathy Gibson will join the Philharmonic to play songs by Elton John and Billy Joel, as well as classics like “Linus and Lucy” and others.

Next is the 2013/14 Masterworks Preview on July 27, also at Foellinger Theatre. Hear a wide variety of music from the soloists who will be featured in the 2013/14 Masterworks season.

Finally, the Phil’s summer concert series wraps up with Flamenco Fire on August 3. The Philharmonic will be joined by a guitarist and flamenco dancer while it performs music influenced by the sounds of Brazil, Cuba, and Italy.
