You may have heard of “First Fridays” in a variety of cities around the country. In Fort Wayne, we change it up and offer an area of opportunities for fun during what we call Last Saturdays. Appropriately occurring on the last Saturday of every month, Last Saturdays offers a variety of activities in Downtown Fort Wayne for families and adults alike. Here are a few of the things you can expect during July’s Last Saturday event on July 27.
The Foellinger-Freimman Botanical Conservatory will offer family friendly activities such as Family Garden Close Up: Beat the Heat and Gardens of New Orleans. For more info, check out the Botanical's website.
The Color Run, a 5K paint race will start at 9 a.m. in Downtown Fort Wayne. This fun and colorful event is available for participants of all different speeds, ages, shapes, and sizes. Visit their website for more.
Les Miserables will be presented by the Fort Wayne Civic Theatre on the 27th as well. Enjoy this classic musical with a memorable performance by some of NE Indiana’s best actors. Tickets and additional information can be found here.
The Fort Wayne Museum of Art will offer a variety of exhibits to include classes on the time-honored art of book binding, Afros: A Celebration of Natural Hair by Michael July, and The Chihuly exhibit. Learn more through their website.
Rock the Plaza will take place on the Library Plaza and feature great local artists such as Brian Lemert Trio, Ivory West, Yet To Be Mute, and Unlikely Alibi. Enjoy fresh produce and baked goods from The Fort Wayne Farmers Market and YLNI Barr Street Farmer’s Market on Barr Street from 9 am – 1 pm. Locally sourced produce and farm fresh goodies are available to enjoy right there or take home and create an amazing dish.
