The Holiday Season is all about family, food, and decorations. Every December I love the tradition of picking out a tree and decorating it with many beautiful ornaments. Although I mainly help organize the ornament hooks - it is still a tradition that I look forward to. This year the Visitors Center will decorate their windows for the new tradition of the Downtown Holiday Window Displays.

Recently, we've seen the return of the displays at the Embassy, and this year Downtown Fort Wayne is adding displays around town. The Downtown Improvement District are reviving the decorating tradition with the Downtown Holiday Window Decorating Contest. Starting on November 25th visitors around town will have the opportunity to view the beautiful displays. With the Night of Lights on November 25th, the decorations will add a nice touch to the festive cheer around town.

The theme for the participating organizations to use as their guideline for decorating is Yesteryear. When Visit Fort Wayne heard of the theme, they began to brainstorm how they can embody the spirit of the holidays, showcase Fort Wayne's attractions, and renew the tradition of window decorations. I hope you are able to experience all of the window displays in person and vote for your favorite display. It is sure to be a great turn out of decorations!

As this is a contest, participating organizations will have their window displays photographed, which can be viewed here. To vote for your favorite display, visit this page.  Voting will begin on November 25th and end on Monday, December 14th, with the winner announcement on December 16th.

The Visit Fort Wayne Visitors Center windows will be located at the corner of S. Harrison and Washington!
