The African/African-American Historical Society Museum (AAAHSM) is celebrating their 12th Anniversary on March 30, 2012 at the Cathedral of Praise Church Ministries International, located at 3501 Harris Road. Join them at 6pm in the Destiny Come Ballroom, located on the upper level. Hana Stith, curator of the AAAHSM, says “It is a privilege to be given the opportunity to use this luxurious facility, which may be the only one of its kind in the state of Indiana.” The Power of Black Music is the theme of the celebration, with an emphasis on gospel. Tributes will be made to Thomas A. Dorsey, “the Father of Black Gospel” and Whitney Houston. This is a two part program, the first half showcases local performers and the second will feature Apostle Ronnie “Diamond” Hoard and the Shining, of Columbus, Ohio. He is well known in the religious world and has performed with many of today’s gospel greats. Hoard is an outstanding performer, entertainer and his music is a real crowd pleaser. The celebration begins at 6pm with hors d’oeuvres and the program following. Tickets are $25 and must be purchased in advance, by March 23rd. No tickets will be sold at the door. For tickets and additional information, contact the AAHSM at 260-420-0765. All proceeds benefit the AAAHSM. And, make plans to grab a bite to eat before or drinks after the event.
