Nearly everyone in Fort Wayne knows where Sweetwater Sound is located. Their huge sign along highway 30 is just about impossible to miss. I'm guessing too most people know Sweetwater has a retail center and offers music lessons - you can gather that much from sitting at the light at US 30 reading the sign. But, if you've never gone inside Sweetwater, go ahead, they want you to!  They welcome visitors!

The first time I walked inside, my reaction was ‘This is in Fort Wayne?' Lots of people walking around, even more sitting at tables working and talking together, Sweetwater bustles with life. Once inside you'll see they also have recording studios and an expansive dining/meeting area.

Sweetwater offers so much for musicians, but you might be surprised to know they offer drop in ‘jam sessions' too. They have several different varieties, depending on your musical bend.

If you want to fine tune your skills, then hit up the Open Acoustic Jam. On the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month from 5 to 8 pm, Sweetwater hosts this event. All you need to do is bring your own instrument and let your creative energy flow.

Not wanting to settle in for a boring evening? Feel like ‘jazzing up' your day? They host a Jazz Jam on the last Thursday of each month from 7 to 8:30 pm. They provide the piano, drum kit, amps, and mics. You provide your own instrument for this one too.

Is winter getting you down? Maybe you're in a funk and need a new rhythm. If so, then pop in on any Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. for the Drum Circle. For this one, you can bring your own drum or use one of theirs.

You don't need to be a polished musician for any of these jam sessions. Too, all ages are welcome and free. Just bring your instrument and have fun.
