giraffe For my husband and I, one of our favorite dates is the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo.  While it’s called the “Children’s Zoo” there are many people who visit the zoo each year without children.  In fact, you’re likely to find several couples strolling through the zoo holding hands instead of pushing strollers. Why? Because the Zoo is a great place to have fun, relax, and laugh a little.! More original and thoughtful than dinner and a movie, it reminds you of being a kid and that is always attractive.  So here are a few tips on how to make a day at the zoo a perfect date.
  • Plan ahead A date at the zoo is an outdoor adventure and will last several hours. Be prepared for the ever-changing Indiana weather.  Know the show schedules and the appropriate costs.  Of course you’ll want to dress to impress but remember you’re going to be outdoors and walking a lot.
  • Pack a picnic While there’s plenty of places to grab a bite to eat in the zoo, why not plan a picnic in the park? Find out your date’s favorite snacks and pack a cooler & a blanket.  This gives you the chance to be a little romantic without being surrounded by 5 year olds.
  • Take a camera There will be lots of photo ops on your date, so be sure to take your camera (or at least be sure your iPhone is charged).  A funny pic of you feeding the goats or roaring with the lions will provide memories for years to come!
  • Relax The point of a zoo date is to relax and have a good time.  This is your opportunity to get to know one another in a casual environment that isn’t a formal dinner or a night out in the club. The sites at the zoo are sure to provide great opportunities for conversation so go with the flow.
  • Enjoy!
