It seems that so many of my favorite movies and musicals just so happen to be from the 70s and 80s. Blame it on my love of anything nostalgic, or the fact that the 70s and 80s were when my mom was growing up and never hesitated to show me her favorite flicks as I grew up myself. One of my favorites is Annie, the story of the little red-headed orphan who made everyone fall in love with her. You can fall in love with her too when Annie - The Musical comes to the Embassy Theatre on Friday, April 8!

Calling All Musicians – Sweetwater Sound

Nearly everyone in Fort Wayne knows where Sweetwater Sound is located. Their huge sign along highway 30 is just about impossible to miss. I'm guessing too most people know Sweetwater has a retail center and offers music lessons - you can gather that much from sitting at the light at US 30 reading the sign. But, if you've never gone inside Sweetwater, go ahead, they want you to!  They welcome visitors!

Paper Gifts and Keepsakes in Fort Wayne

I don't care how attached to my computer and other electronics I am - nothing feels as thoughtful as when something is given to me on a piece of paper. A card, an invitation, etc... call me a romantic. There's just SOMETHING about it that makes it more meaningful.

Luckily, I can get plenty of whatever I'm looking for in this department right here in Fort Wayne. Whether you're looking for general paper keepsakes or Fort Wayne specific items, you're guaranteed to find what you're looking for at one of these shops.

I'm a huge champion for Fort Wayne. Born and raised in the Summit City, I left briefly for college, but always knew I would, and wanted to, end up back home to grow my life. Fast forward a little and I am married, looking to buy a house to completely solidify my roots in town and work and participate in a growing and thriving community that makes me proud to call this city my home!

FREE Art Activity in Fort Wayne

In recent years, you may have noticed many new street art sculptures and murals pop up around the downtown Fort Wayne area. Make sure you also keep a look out for new installments in downtown crosswalks, as Artlink will be sourcing two artists to design and install two crosswalk murals on the downtown Fort Wayne arts campus in the Summer of 2016.

Did you Know this about Fort Wayne?

One of the advantages of moving as much as my spouse and I have is that you're more likely to explore the city you are living in rather than taking it for granted, as can happen with natives. When we first moved here about a decade ago, my new friends, many of whom had lived here for years, were surprised at what I could tell them about Fort Wayne. This truly is a very interesting city.

Art Galleries in Fort Wayne

If you were to describe Fort Wayne to an outsider, the description ‘artist's town' wouldn't immediately come to mind. We've been called the city of churches and the city of trees, but the city of art galleries? That hasn't happened - not yet anyway. But when you start counting them up, the Fort Wayne Museum of ArtArtlinkOrchard Gallery, the galleries at The University of St. FrancisJennifer Ford Art, and scores more, you start to wonder if we should frame ourselves with the moniker ‘The City of Galleries'. An entire book could be devoted to all the choices offered around town, but I had to draw the line somewhere, so here are a few of my favorites.
