The History Center has three rooms available to rent for special events
including weddings, wedding receptions, business dinners, fund-raisers, class
reunions, retirement and anniversary parties, and cocktail receptions.
The centerpiece of the museum, the Shields Room, is the former Old
City Council Chambers and Courtroom. An extensive 2009 architectural
renovation has restored its early 20th century Victorian beauty. Oak
paneling, rich colors and 24kt gold-leaf stencils highlight the ornate 22-foot
tin ceiling and expansive city views. Your guests may ascend the impressive
Grand Staircase to the second floor entrance or use the convenient
elevator. The Shields Room has a banquet seating capacity of 160 guests
and 200 guests for stand-up receptions or lectures. Two smaller rooms, the
Board Room and Orientation Room, can accommodate 30-50 people, respectively.
