Freimann 4 7:30 PM, Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at ArtsLab Black Box Theatre 2:30 PM, Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Rhinehart Music Center, IPFW DVOŘÁK’S “AMERICAN” QUARTET Rossini Duetto for Cello and Bass Haufrecht Suite for Brass Quintet Dvořák String Quartet No. 12 in F major, Op. 96 “American” Written in the Czech community of Spillville, Iowa during the summer of 1893, Dvořák sketched his quartet in three days, and it was completed in just under two weeks. "When I wrote this quartet...I wanted to write something for once that was very melodious and straightforward, and dear Papa Haydn kept appearing before my eyes, and that is why it all turned out so simply. And it’s good that it did."
