Ravel — La valse
Chadwick — Tam O’Shanter; Symphonic Ballade
Mussorgsky — Pictures at an Exhibition (arr. Ravel)
Pictures at an Exhibition was written to commemorate a painter who provided Mussorgsky great artistic inspiration. The work builds to a dramatic conclusion with the Great Gate of Kiev, its stirring brass chorales and clanging bells bringing the work and the season to a brilliant conclusion. Performance artist Theo Smith will create a live painting on stage during the performance of Pictures at an Exhibition.
