Fort Wayne Museum of Art: Day of the Dead

Event
October 20, 2012 to November 04, 2012
Day of the Dead
Saturday, October 20 - Sunday, November 4

Beginning in mid-October and concluding around the time of the holiday itself, this home-grown exhibit will feature traditional Mexican alters with sugar skulls, colorful tissue paper cutouts, and photos of deceased relatives to honor the souls of the departed.  The Day of the Dead, an ancient religious celebration that originally honored children and ancestors, has evolved from a blend of Meso-American and Christian cultures. Community participation is an essential part of this holiday that is full of life, reflection, food, family, and fun.
