Do you love local art? If so, the Orchard Gallery of Fine Art is just the place to visit. They are a very unique co-operative art gallery owned and staffed by very diverse artists working together to create a friendly and fun gallery for people to visit. Stop in and enjoy conversation with local artists who are knowledgeable about the artwork in the shop and focused on answering questions and explaining details about it. When I walked in, the first thing I noticed was the diversity of the art displayed and the casual atmosphere. There’s really something for everyone, from contemporary to traditional, with items such as original paintings, pottery, glass, wood, jewelry, photography, sculpture, and wearables.  In addition to local artisans, the Orchard Gallery also showcases some national and international artisans, which really enhances the studio’s variety. The artisan I spoke with was more than happy to share a bit about the shop and the art I was admiring. I was pleasantly surprised at just how comfortable I felt in the Gallery. It was very apparent to me from the start; the focus of this shop is on making its customers feel comfortable, and making a personal connection with everyone who browses the shop. Throughout the year the gallery offers various exhibits showcasing particular work. Upcoming exhibits include Watercolors by Lynn Diamente (September) and Emily Wiser Jewelry in October. In November, the Orchard Gallery will offer the Holiday Open Houses where visitors will find refreshments and several on-hand artists to answer questions. In my opinion, the casual atmosphere, focus on personal relationships, and the unique; one-of-a-kind artwork displayed makes the Orchard Gallery not only an interesting place to visit, but a must-see for every art lover visiting Fort Wayne.
