Looking for a fun new Thanksgiving tradition? I've found a new twist on our favorite day. The Philmore on Broadway has created Thanksgivingfest to celebrate our national holiday. If you want to celebrate the holiday in a special way, this is it. Thanksgivingfest will be held on Wednesday, November 21, beginning at 7:30p.m. until 12 midnight. The evening is a combination of elegant atmosphere, great food and entertainment. Although the Thanksgivingfest menu was not set at the time of this posting, restaurant officials confided they are planning something special for this event. More can be said about the musical venue – a concert with Biscuit Miller and The Mix. Biscuit Miller plays funky blues that gets everyone out on the dance floor! The last time he performed at the Philmore the show sold out. Guest star Mark Maxwell has played his sax at the Philmore on other occasions and is also popular. The music begins at 9:00 p.m. and continues until midnight. Tickets for the Thanksgivingfest are $20.00. The restaurant offers special VIP seating at an extra cost. Tickets are available at the door, but due to the popularity of the musical performers and the holiday, the events may sell out. I’d suggest removing the stress from your life and reserving a table. Guests must be 21 to attend the Thanksgivingfest. What to wear to such an event? Mandie Kolkman from The Philmore on Broadway said guests will wear a mixture of attire. “Some people will come straight from work and others just want to be comfortable,” she said. “I suggest dressy casual.” 2441 Broadway Street Fort Wayne 260.745.1000 http://www.philmoreonbroadway.com/node/85404 ** But , if you are looking for a more traditional take on Thanksgiving Day lunch, one option is Cracker Barrel. The restaurant will serve turkey and dressing, ham, sweet potato casserole, cranberry relish, vegetable, beverage and biscuits with Pumpkin Pecan Streusel pie starting at 11 a.m. Wow! Makes my mouth water to think about it! The cost per serving: $8.99 for adults. Children: $4.69. Cracker Barrel also offers take-home packages of meals for a group. Check out their website for more information. No matter where you dine on Thanksgiving, I hope you enjoy the day in a state of thankfulness for our country’s blessings.
