Overcome Those Winter Doldrums

A wonderful gift comes with the mature years… grandchildren! And not only do the young ones bring joy to the elders, the feeling is mutual. That grand connection provides the kiddos with something special. Some may call it spoiling; we call it making memories. It’s been a long winter, and children can get restless when it’s too cold to go outside. (So can adults.) But there’s still plenty of fun to be had indoors! Here are a few activities to cure cabin fever: Bounce back from cold weather monotony – literally – with a trip to Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park. There are activities for all ages and even special times to accommodate toddlers. How about challenging the teenagers in your family to a game of dodgeball? Or just watch them have fun, then grab some pizza together at the snack bar, and take your bow for rescuing the young’uns from boredom. Don’t forget parental permission forms, available on the website. For more information, you can call (260) 483-5867. Play together at Jungle George’s. Whether it’s the arcade, skee-ball, slides, or bounce houses, everyone can have a good time and win tickets for prizes. There’s plenty to eat, and TV and WIFI are available, too. Parental permission forms can be printed from the website. For more information, call (260) 387-7392. Connect with Nature: Have a love for nature? A respect for animals? Want to pass along those traits to the newest generation? Then FrogWatch USA’s science program is for you. Take the kiddos to the free FrogWatch Training class at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, where you'll learn about conserving local wetlands and gathering useful research data on amphibians. Then, you’ll be ready to conduct your own research in local wetland areas. Reserve your class time: either February 15 or March 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can bring along a lunch or a snack. To sign up or get more information, call the zoo office at (260) 427-6828 or email email@example.com. Get Creative: Time to nurture the artistic side? All ages can enjoy painting together at Painting Fun Spot at Jefferson Pointe Shopping Center. From cartoon characters and superhero figurines to plates, mugs, home décor, coin banks, faith expressions, and more, you can detail your selection to your own style. Whether your item is kiln fired for later pick up or something you take with you right after painting, you’ll make memories to last a lifetime. Get a kit to work on together at home too! For more info, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (260) 616-0350. Make the most of winter while looking forward to spring!
