Whether you’ve arrived in Fort Wayne for business or pleasure, we encourage you to be a tourist in our great city. To help you find the best places to visit, we’ve created a must see list. Try out one, or all, of our suggestions. Whatever you have time for, you won’t be sorry.
We love our sports here in Fort Wayne and are often considered one of the top minor league sports cities in America. Take in a Tincaps baseball game at Parkview Field, a Komet Hockey game at the Coliseum, or a Mad Ants basketball game at the Coliseum. Slightly more laid back and affordable than the big-name professional teams, you’ll find it’s the perfect way to relax while getting the chance to see future big names in competition.
Kids Fun (for the big kids too) If you’re visiting during the warmer months, don’t miss the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo. This nationally recognized zoo is second to none with exhibits like the African Safari and the opportunity to have giraffes eat out of your hand. Stop by Science Central for hands on exploration of science and watch your children become inspired by the interactive displays. Get outside and enjoy Kreager Park’s Boundless Playground offering children, regardless of physical limitation, the opportunity to play outside.
Art The Fort Wayne Museum Art offers beautiful exhibits from world renowned artists. Their current exhibit showcasing the works of Dale Chihuly is part of Indiana’s Glass Trail and is sure to inspire with its bold colors and breathtaking shapes. Treasure local art at Artlink. Artlink also offers classes and workshops for artists of all levels
Satisfy your sweet tooth Stop by DeBrands for world-class chocolates that are sure to satisfy your craving for something sweet. Tours of their factory are also available. Take home a box of Cookie Cottage Cookies to share with friends and family too. They’re the perfect level of sweetness and come in a variety of flavors. You might want to pick up two boxes because our experience tells us the first box never makes it home.
Get Outside Fort Wayne is full of trails and beautiful parks to enjoy no matter the weather. Enjoy the vastness of Headwaters Park in the middle of downtown Fort Wayne or the beautiful flowers in Foster or Lakeside Parks. Go for a run on the trails of Shoaff Park or the Dupont YMCA. No matter what your interest, Fort Wayne has a lot to offer that is worth checking out even as a resident!
