About a decade ago, I had the rare opportunity to perform on the stage of the magnificent Embassy Theatre in downtown Fort Wayne. Don't worry, I was not a solo act. As a member of the Wells Community Theatre troupe chorus (1 of nearly 100 people), I entered the stage from the wings and looked out at the scores of long rows of seating, mostly all filled with people who had paid to see us perform. It was such a thrill performing to the songs of Sound of Music and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Sadly, the troupe is no longer in existence. But a few local people will experience that thrill of being on stage at the Embassy during an upcoming event. Musicians Mark Hutchins, The Sunny Taylor Band, Sugar Shot and The Todd Harrold Band will contribute to Down the Line 6: Legends from Locals on Saturday, February 25, at 7:00 p.m. Down the Line is a concert that functions as a fundraising event for the Embassy Theatre. It is unique in that all of the performers are from the Fort Wayne area. They will perform music made famous by bands from the past. Hutchins will perform R.E.M.; Taylor’s Band will sing music by The Black Crowes; Sugar Shot will mimic the tunes of Prince and Harrold’s band will play Steely Dan. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 the week of the show. Tickets on sale now at the Embassy box office, all other Ticketmaster locations and online at Ticketmaster.com.
