Gather ‘round, my pretties, and listen to an old tale born of American author Washington Irving in the 1820s – remember reading his short stories in school?
This one’s a familiar anecdote best recounted around a late night campfire deep in the woods where your scare factor is alive and well. In this month of spooky hallows, you’ll delight in being scared as the sudden thrumming of hoofbeats gets terrifyingly closer and closer until suddenly, you’re part of the beloved tale!
Welcome to an innovative form of immersive theatre featuring the Legend of Sleepy Hollow at Youtheatre in downtown Fort Wayne October 7, 8 &9, 2016. Not familiar with immersive theatre? This type of experience involves the physical participation of the audience directly in the story, along with the stars of the show: Ichabod Crane, the ill-fated school teacher, the villain Brom Bones, the heroine Katrina Van Tassel and the notorious Headless Horseman.
This type of theatre is likely to stimulate all five senses, even taste, and smell in some cases, and these shows often double as an art installation and hands-on museum. Also, audiences feel as though they are having an intensely personal experience with this type of interaction rather than the traditional theatre where viewers remain in their seats for the whole play.
There is a cautionary note on the website that prepares viewers: Please be advised - the audience will be doing some standing/walking during this show. Please notify the box office if special accommodations are needed.
The performances will be at the Auer Black Box Theatre
