The half-marathon. 13.1 miles. A distance that tests both the mental and physical endurance of a person. Test your own endurance at Fort Wayne's own half-marathon, the 4th annual Fort-4-Fitness, this year on Saturday, September 24. Not ready to tackle the full 13.1? Fort-4-Fitness also features a 4-mile walk/run and new this year -- a 10K run. There is still time to register for this year's Fort-4-Fitness -- but hurry. Registration closes at 10,000 runners, or on September 10, whichever comes first. And this race has a history of selling out! Run through the streets of downtown, and then enjoy a touch of nature as the course passes through Foster Park. Catch a view of ornate homes as you run along Fort Wayne's historic Old Mill Road. Finish the race inside Parkview Field, the home of Fort Wayne's own minor league baseball team, the Tin Caps. Don't forget to smile and give Johnny -- the team mascot -- a high five as you cross the finish line. For runners, and non-runners alike, Fort-4-Fitness also features a Health Festival at the stadium on September 23 and 24. Visit booths for freebies and to talk to local vendors involved with the Fort Wayne health and fitness community. Fort-4-Fitness also includes a kids marathon and seniors marathon, where participants run over the course of several weeks until they reach their full 26.2 mile goal. Plan your next road race in Fort Wayne. And while you're here take some time to recover afterward and enjoy the many amenities the city offers. For more information on Fort-4-Fitness click here.
