Who doesn’t love visiting (or living) in a beautiful, well-maintained, clean city? Fort Wayne does that well, thanks to the The Fort Wayne Downtown Improvement District (aka DID, as the locals call them). This winter, they have joined forces with the Fort Wayne/Allen County Economic Development Alliance to announce the First Annual Groundhog Day Open (an exciting indoor golf tournament) to benefit downtown beautification. The Groundhog Day Open will be held on Groundhog Day, February 2, 2012. The 18-hole championship indoor putting course will be laid out between the Grand Wayne Convention Center, the Embassy Theatre/Indiana Hotel and the downtown Courtyard by Marriott. This extraordinary layout, crossing Jefferson Boulevard and Harrison Street on skybridges will challenge even the most skilled golfer! Four person teams may sign up at $100 per player online. Closing ceremonies and prizes will be awarded at 7:15 pm.
