Do you know what treasure is? Is it a treasure chest buried on an island years ago by pirates? Is it long lost gold in the bottom of a sunken ship? Or could it even be found in your own house? Come check out Science Central’s current traveling gallery exhibit Treasure!, where the whole family will enjoy a fun look at what treasure is, and what goes into hunting for it! Treasure! features underwater treasures found in sunken ships, treasure buried by pirates, the gold rushes of the 19th century, treasures found in your attic that may have hidden value, different tools used to work underwater, the history of scuba diving and the preservation of treasure. This exhibit may leave you and your family wanting to go on a treasure hunt of your own with its demonstration of an indoor version of geocaching, using a Global Positioning System to hide and seek treasure for fun, as part of the exhibit. You will also have the opportunity to learn how to use a metal detector and crack a safe as well as see actual artifacts from shipwrecks and treasure sites. Treasure! is on display now through June 3, 2012.
