A relaxing activity for the whole family, especially if the weather is not cooperative, is a visit to the Botanical Conservatory.
The 14th Annual Live Butterfly Exhibit began in April and extends until July 17.
This is a neat exhibit as hundreds of live, exotic butterflies fly around you. Sometimes they come and land on your arm! The Conservatory is so educational because they provide interactive displays that offer information about the life cycle of a butterfly and its anatomy and other interesting trivia.
There is even a Hatching Lab to watch a chrysalis from which the adult butterflies emerge in their amazing cycle of metamorphosis.
If bees are more to your liking, you can examine their observation hive to explore the concept of metamorphosis in a colony of honey bees as they rear their brood through all stages of life, as well as forage for nectar and pollen. There is no extra cost for this exhibit bee-sides Conservatory admission.
