Move over Anthony Wayne—there’s a new kid in town! The Wells Corridor Business Association, along with a slew of sponsors, wants to invite one and all to celebrate one of Fort Wayne’s most significant historical figures, William Wells. Gather the troops and head over to Wells Street Bridge on August 6 for family fun at William Wells Day! Discover all this historic district has to offer with “Boat, Bike and Walk About” tours facilitated by ARCH from 4-6 p.m. Then, soak your family in some fun by competing in the family canoe races. But the fun doesn’t stop there! This William Wells Day includes story telling by author Joe Krom, a proclamation by Mayor Henry, a watermelon eating contest judged by a surprise celebrity and a luminary lighting along the St. Mary’s River. Your kids will love the arrowhead making demonstration, and your whole family can enjoy chainsaw artist demonstrations, face painting, music, Native American demonstrations as well as food and drinks. Don’t miss your opportunity to spend time with family and enjoy a little taste of downtown’s historical community at William Wells Day!
