Enjoy Fort Wayne on Foot: Walking Tour

While the fall leaves are at their most breathtaking and the air is crisp yet refreshing, consider a walking tour during your visit to Fort Wayne, Indiana. This tour can be done anytime of year at your own leisure, but you are sure to enjoy it during the autumn season!

First off, download and save or print out a PDF version of the walking tour from the Visit Fort Wayne Visitors Center here. The tour begins right at the Visitors Center and takes you across Washington Street and over to the gorgeous Grand Wayne Convention Center.

Next pass the Embassy Theatre and venture into the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, an indoor and outdoor garden known for blooming foliage and decor year-round. Then head north to The History Center which showcases both Fort Wayne and Allen County history, including more than 26,000 photographs, along with historic artifacts and memorabilia. The tour takes you next to the Auer Center for Performing Arts: home of the Fort Wayne Ballet, Fort Wayne Trails, Pembroke Bakery and Artlink gallery.

Heading up north a little bit further you will reach the The Fort Wayne Museum of Art, which contemporary art from locally and afar. Two blocks away is the historic Allen County Courthouse where you can take a self-guided tour at anytime. If you are hungry, afterward head over to Fort Wayne’s Famous Coney Island for the famous coney dogs that locals rave about. If hot dogs aren’t your preference try Cindy’s Diner an authentic ’50s diner, also within a short walking distance. But the tour is not over yet!
Next explore the Allen County Public Library, followed by another walk through the Grand Wayne Center if you please and possibly a stop at another local favorite, the Firefighter’s Museum. Looking across the street you will see Parkview Field once more, home to TinCaps Baseball. Your tour can now end by walking back across the street, through the Grand Wayne Center one last time and back to the Fort Wayne Visitors Center.
